January 29, 2006Absolute Poker, one of the world’s largest online poker sites, has announced that their $150 entry tournaments will now have a guaranteed prize pool of at least $100,000.00 each week. The tournament awards the first place finisher a minimum prize of $25,000.00. The tournament format is No Limit Texas Holdem, the same game that is played in the annual World Series of Poker, and has recently changed so that players receive 2,500 in chips, up from 1,500 chips in the past. January 15, 2006The January 2006 issue of Poker Pro has hit the shelves and it’s a pretty entertaining issue. The big announcement this month from Poker Pro Magazine was that they are now going to a monthly format. This is great news if you love the magazine. Gracing this month’s issue is poker superstar Chris “Jesus” Ferguson. This month had a pretty good mix of content. January 14, 2006
January 12, 2006University of Waterloo student Steve Paul-Ambrose, 22, must feel like he’s died and went to Poker heaven. After a fun week of playing poker at the Atlantis Casino Resort on Paradise Island, Paul-Ambrose has emerged a big winner. He was playing, with a pool of over 700 players, in the Third Annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The third-year business student rolled his experience up into a bankroll of $1.3 million—but that’s not all. The World Poker Tour’s stock has plummeted from its highs this year and there’s no sign that a bounce back is quick in coming. Chief Financial Officer, Todd Steele, is expected to announce revenue for last quarter (fourth quarter 2005) in the $4.5 to $5 million range. Initially, this was pleasing news, but the company is now expected to announce pre-tax losses of $1.5-$2 million for last quarter. One of the hot properties on the strip, Caesars Palace, has just opened their new poker room. The new poker room has been luxuriously styled to please all poker aficionados. One might expect this to be an all high-limit poker room, but surprisingly, there’s low-limit tables for the poker player on a budget or who simply wants to relax. As one might expect, Caesars Palace went all out on their new poker room gem.
I look forward to covering poker software, poker tips, poker room reviews, poker news, poker player profiles and much more. I hope you will stick around and enjoy all that Poker Daily Press will offer. |
