Recently, Card Player (CardPlayer.com) announced a new fantasy poker contest. Here’s the official release.

Sports fans have their fantasy football, baseball, and hockey leagues. Now poker fans can join in the fun.

CardPlayer.com recently unveiled the first round of its Card Player Fantasy Poker Contest.

The first contest, which will begin Feb. 16 at the Commerce Casino’s LA Poker Classic, will be free for all users.

In my quest to play poker all over the place, I found myself joining PokerRoom.com. One of the things that drew my attention was the no download ability. At Pokerroom.com, you can either download their software or play right in your browser. The advantage of downloading the software is the statistic ability. If you play in the browser, you can’t keep track of your stats. For Mac users, the ability to play in the browser is a huge one. Some Mac users, like me, probably have Virtual PC (that allows us to run Windows programs on the Mac). However, it can be slow and cumbersome with some programs. I would not recommend Mac users waste time with the download version at PokerRoom.com. The browser version works very well.

WPT Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ:WPTE) and the Travel Channel entered into an agreement to air WPTE’s highly anticipated PROFESSIONAL POKER TOUR(TM) (PPT) television series. The PPT features a series of invitation-only tournaments that are limited to the highest-ranked players in the world. The PPT is expected to begin airing in the 3rd quarter of 2006 on Wednesday nights from 9-11 PM ET/PT, following the completion of Season Four of the WPT.

The Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City is now officially over and a new champion has been crowned. That new champion is Michael “the Grinder” Mizrachi—a feared poker pro. The Grinder took home just over $1.1 million dollars in cash, a $25,000 seat into the World Poker Tour’s April even and a hot new 2006 Cadillac Escalade.
